Airbus SE and Italdesign
You might be thinking that this is one huge drone, and
you’d be right. Kind of. Airbus SE and Italdesign have teamed-up to
produce a solution to beat modern-day city traffic by, yes you’ve
guessed it, sending us up into the skies. I know that all other attempts
up until this point have failed, but surely one is bound to succeed?
VW Sedric
Hey everybody, meet Sedric! No, he’s not the cool new
foreign exchange kid in class, but he is a fully autonomous concept
vehicle that you can summon by just pushing a button, and he’ll take you
were you want to go. VW say that you won’t see Sedric on your streets
just yet, but it certainly points to the future of
autonomous cars.
Fittipaldi EF7 Vision Gran Turismo by Pininfarina
What do you do when you finally hang up the racing
gloves? If you’re two-time Formula One World Champion Emerson
Fittipaldi, you help create your own supercar of course! This is the
snappily-titled ‘Fittipaldi EF7 Vision Gran Turismo by Pininfarina’, and
it promises to be ‘where art meets speed’. However, it’s likely to cost
well over $1 million, so if you want one you’d better get saving.
Techrules Ren
Sharkfins are all the rage at the moment, you only need to look at the
latest Formula One cars
for proof. This is the Techrules Ren electric supercar and I think it
looks rather appealing. It is equipped with a world-first diesel turbine
charging system that delivers great fuel economy for a supercar. And
with 1,287bhp on tap it will surely go like some brown stuff off a
garden implement.
Tamo Racemo
These days, it’s all about efficiency, and the little
Tamo Racemo (built by Indian Company Tata) promises to be just that.
With a 1.2 litre, 3-cylinder engine producing 187bhp, it promises to
have some pretty impressive 0-60 times. Unfortunately, only 250 will be
built, so if you want to try one for yourself you’ll have to make do on
your Xbox, with a
free download on Forza Horizon 3.
Lexus LS 500h
No thanks to Alan Partridge,
Lexus is quite a cool brand these days, and their new flagship LS 500h
hybrid certainly is now a serious rival to Tesla. With a lot more power
available from its V6 engine paired with two electric motors, expect
0-60 in 5.4 seconds. Plus it’s quite a looker too.
David Brown Speedback GT
This is the achingly-beautiful David Brown Speedback GT,
and yes, it’s supposed to look like an Aston Martin DB5. It takes over
7,200 hours to build one, so let’s assume it’s going to cost you quite a
bit if you want to live out your James Bond fantasies.
Toyota i-TRIL
The Toyota i-TRIL is an electric concept car that holds
three people and is aimed squarely at the growing number of suburbanites
doing the school run. It’s designed to be extremely manoeuvrable, and
the whole front of the vehicle can tilt through 10 degrees. But it still
won’t make you look cool to your kids.
Lamborghini Aventador S
Now nobody really
needs 740 brake horsepower,
but when it’s wrapped up in a beautiful Lamborghini Aventador S
bodyshell you just have to take one for the team. And if they have
trouble selling these, I’d be willing to take one off their hands.
Ferrari 812 Superfast
So I’ll admit that the new Ferrari 812 Superfast is not
full of electronic hybrid technology, self-parking doodas or some
amazing drone cameras, but it is the fastest road car that Ferrari have
ever made. So for me that more than justifies it’s inclusion.
Hyundai Fuel Cell FE Concept
Not all concepts are pie-in-the-sky attention seekers.
Take for example the Hyundai Fuel Cell FE Concept. Hyundai say that the
engine in this car will influence a model due for release next year, and
with an engine that is 10 per cent more efficient than the current fuel
cell in the ix35 model and with a huge range of 497 miles, that all
sounds very promising. Nice paint-job too…
